Rob Swift, Precision & Total Eclipse have come together to form 'Ill Insanity'.  Their LP 'Ground Xero' drops February 12th 2008, on Ablist Productions.  Let me first say, I have not yet heard this album & I have  renewed optimisim for it because of the review by ThatKidNamedCee(big up for sending that in!) that follows my rant.  One thing that bothered me about the 'X-men' & 'X-ecutioners' releases was there were too many M.C.'s featured on the albums.  According to ThatKidNamedCee, only one track features an M.C, nice.  The reason I brought this up is this quote from Rob Swift, "That was then and this is now... without change there's no progress".  I've seen a couple videos on youtube etc, of Ill Insanity Shows that looked quite a bit like some X-ecutioner routines & shows.  Specifically with the rotating dj Juggle, you know the one where one guy gets the juggle going then the next guy steps in and continues and so on...  Perhaps I'm being too pesimistic, don't get me wrong when I saw this stuff the first time around I was amazed, but to quote Rob Swift "that was then and this is now".    Anyway enjoy P Bounce, a track Ground Xero while you read the review:ThatKidNamedCee, of The Others Turntable FX Kru

Things have gotten a little bit stale recently...too predictable and robotic. But this is where New York's Ill Insanity comes in. A fresh breath of life into a stagnant scene. Their debut album "Ground Xero" brings the funk, soul, and feeling back into the tablist arena. The members of the crew (Rob Swift, Precision, and Total Eclipse) have come together and elevated the game to a new level, displaying not only their incredible skills on the tables, but a refreshing take on turntable music, actually creating something you WANT to listen to.Take for instance the track "P Bounce", which features Excess (of Ned Hoddings fame). The entire track (drums, fills, bass, etc..) is created from turntable manipulation, which shows that scratching can be more than a showcase of skill, but a useful tool to create funky musical compositions. Ill Insanity explores this concept more on the album with the tracks "NonVerbal Communication" and "Sound Science", the former showcasing scratching of a horn so soulful that you really forget that it was scratched, and the latter being an experimental, downtempo track that really shows the diverse range that Ill Insanity brings to the table.But lets not forget raw scratching and hiphop, which Ill Insanity brilliantly executes on the tracks "Break Ill" and "5 Fingers of Death (feat. Qbert)". Here you get nothin but bangin beats and an insane display of cut skills! And while the scratchin is raw and techinical, it is also funky, which is something you dont hear much from today's scratchers. Dope cuts you can actually bob your head to while in amazement of the level of skill you are hearing.And to further show their range, the track "Scratch Live (feat. Roc Raida) is a certified party-banger. Who says tablism can't get the party started?? Drop this one, and watch the honeys hit the floor!!! Also peep the only track on the album with an emcee.."Decorated Vets (feat. Dashah)". This one reminds you of the glory days of hiphop, where a dope emcee ACTUALLY HAD a dope dj. Dashah shines on the mic and is perfectly complimented by Ill Insanity's turntable antics. Real hiphop is over here!!!This album is what the turntablist movement has been waiting for: a showcase of dope skill that you can actually enjoy listening to.
